A little late getting this one up as we were closing the camp for the winter and then cleaning house in preparation for company…. This is a mixed media drawing on Strathmore Gray Toned Paper. I was attracted to the brilliance of the sun hitting the right side tree and other smaller spots in the landscape…along side the darker values in the overcast sky and trees….a very dramatic feel which I loved capturing. This scene is looking west from Strawberry Marsh.
Some fun to end the summer…
1) I saved one of the sunflowers I picked for a bouquet from Fletcher’s Farm and took it to the camp with me…it was the last of the flowers…setting it up on a little table outside, I painted it with watercolours…giving it a landscape background to brighten it up. I was quite pleased with the outcome…..giving one sad little sunflower its last happy day.
2) I decided to paint a gift for a few fellow campers who have made our summer days in Bartibog a real joy. Having found some seashells at the camp…I painted camping scenes on them with acrylics then varnished them.
